Print Entry:
1. All Entrants must be PPSV members in good standing with fees paid for the current year.
2. A maximum of four (4) prints may be entered in any one month.
3. A print not winning an award may be re-entered one additional time, but not in a consecutive month. (e.g. March, April)
4. Prints created in connection with a seminar, school or other teaching situation are not eligible for competition.
5. Prints measuring from 10X10 and up to 16X20 inches in size are eligible for entry, provided they are mounted on 16X20 inch board. Minimum thickness for all entries is 1/8" at the thinnest point, maximum thickness ¼"at the thickest point. Underlays are permitted if they do not increase the overall thickness in excess of ¼". Overlay rag mats or paper mats are allowed but no fillets or framing on print. Total area of the photograph must not be less than 100 square inches. Exceptions to this rule: PPSV will allow larger than 16X20 inch photographs for entry as well as prints mounted on canvas. The above rule (#5) is in accordance with PPA rules.
6. Black and white photographs may be entered in any category, provided they meet the category requirements.
7. Transparencies no smaller than 4X5 inches, mounted in a 12X12 inch black cardboard mount are eligible for entry, provided they meet the category requirements.
8. Special Competitions (Albums, Specialists, Student, etc) may be announced during the year.
Photographs with names, studio logos, ribbons attached or otherwise marked on the front are not eligible for entry. If there is a name or logo on the photograph it must be taped over.
9.Reproductions are not eligible for entry.
10. Deadline for entering photographs is 6:45 pm on the night of the monthly meeting. No exceptions!
11. Entry forms may be downloaded from the www.PPSV.org website.
12. Prints will be viewed by the National Standard of Judging, unless local rules state differently.
13. PPSV has a judging booth which will be utilized to view the entered prints.
14. It is the photographer's responsibility to obtain a release from the subjects in the photograph. The winning photograph will not be printed in the Latent Image or posted on the PPSV website if the photographer does not have a release.

Judging:
1. No more than five (5) nor less than four (4) judges plus one alternate will be chosen by the Print Chairperson.
2. Judges must be PPSV members or special visitors (Masters, Guest Speakers, etc)
3. Judges will use the judging material provided.
4. Tabulation of points will be the responsibility of the Competition Chairperson(s) with one or more aides as necessary.
5. All points will be recorded for future reference.
6. On prints scoring 70 (average) or better, an automatic challenge will be issued if a point spread of ten (10) points exists between one (or more) or the judge's score and the resulting score.

Awards and Points:
1. Best of Show: The winning prints (or highest scoring prints) in each category will be re-judged for the Best of Show Award.
2. Best of Class: Ribbons will be awarded to the highest scoring photographs in each category. There must be a minimum of five (5) prints entered in a category for a print to be awarded Best of Class.
3. Award of Merit: Ribbons will be awarded to those photographs scoring seventy (70) points and above.
4. Speaker's Award: The guest speaker will judge all photographs for the speaker's award. A ribbon will be awarded, but no points given for this award.
5. Image of the Year: Photographs winning Best of Show during the monthly competitions (from January to November) will be re-judged at the end of the year for the Image of the Year Award. Print Competition Chairperson will determine how this judging will be handled.
Photographer of the Year: The photographer attaining the highest average print score throughout the entire year of competition will be awarded the title Photographer of the Year. Photographer of the year must have entered a minimum of ten (10) prints in at least three categories during the year to qualify.
6. Top Photographer of the Year for each category: there will be a Top Photographer of the Year in each qualifying classification: Portrait, Wedding/Candid, Commercial, and Fine Art/Unclassified.
Plaque Awards: There must have been at least ten (10) prints entered in a category during the year in order for that category to be awarded. Plaques are awarded based on highest average scores in each category. A minimum of six (6) prints by the maker must be entered. Prints scoring below 70 are not included.
7. Ties: In the case of ties, where an award is presented, the judges shall make the determination as to whom is to receive the award.
8. The Print Chairperson(s) will have the final word on all occurrences not defined above.

PPSV shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage involved in the monthly or yearly competitions.
